The Snow College Leadership Academy is sponsored by the Office of the President and is fittingly inspired by the extraordinary leadership that led to the founding of our institution. The program was developed to build institutional leadership capacity among faculty and staff at Snow College and assist with fulfilling our mission and strategic plan by providing support of faculty and staff in achieving their professional and personal goals.
The academy focuses on three primary areas:
Over the course of nine months, participants complete a program of self-examination and study that includes seminars on:
Academy participants discover approaches to leadership from the college president, senior college administrators, faculty, and staff who will be among the presenters.
Emphasis for the Academy is on personal growth as participants will recognize and develop individual leadership value and potential. Skills learned are applicable across multiple disciplines and careers for the lifetime leadership of the individual. Participants learn to recognize the need for leadership and the importance of their personal contributions to the institution. Through the academy, participants gain information and knowledge that benefit the college as a whole and them personally. Participants also learn about how they can help build leadership skills and experience in others.
Participants are expected to do the following:
Each year, up to 15 employees are selected to participate in the program. All full-time faculty and staff as well as adjunct faculty and permanent part-time staff from every level of the institution are encouraged to apply for the program.
All training material is provided, and those who successfully participate in and finish the program are given a certificate of completion. This is an important part of Snow College’s professional development program, and hours spent in the program are part of the employees’ regular workload. The Human Resource Office will work with supervisors as needed to ensure selected participants can fulfill the expectations.
